Summer Reading Intervention Program

This summer, STARS Academy is excited to be offering an innovative and evidence-based reading intervention program, specifically designed for students who struggle with literacy skills.  Designed by renowned reading expert and author Dr. Maryanne Wolf, RAVE-O is an acronym which stands for Reading through Automaticity, Vocabulary, Engagement, and Orthography.  Dr. Wolf is a UCLA Professor-in-Residence of Education as well as the Director of the UCLA Center for Dyslexia. This program works for students who have mastered basic phonics skills and helps them build not only accuracy with reading, but on the main goals of reading: comprehension and enjoyment!

Our 6-week intensive offering will take place on our campus in small-group settings led by Rose.  Students will engage in activities that promote their understanding of morphology, semantics, and syntax.  For more information, please info@starsacademyschool.com. Limited space available.

AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS

STARS Academy after school programs are offered daily from 3:30 - 5 pm (except STARS Theater Program which is offered twice a week from 3:45 - 6:45 pm) and provide extended school day opportunities. It provides a time for students to explore an academic, athletic, art, or social interest outside of the school day. We offer these programs as a convenience for working parents, but they also provide the opportunity for any student to benefit from and enjoy the various activities we offer. The small class sizes allow for individual growth and accomplishment in a chosen field of activity. These classes are also open to non-STARS Academy students as well.

2023 SPRING SEMESTER

STARS Theater Program
Monday/Wednesday 3:45-6:45 pm

Shayna Turk's Academy of Rising STARS is a children's musical theater program designed to provide young children, no matter their ability or age, the opportunity to perform in a theatrical production. Each role is carefully assigned to mirror each child's potential. Through blind casting, new and former students have equal opportunities for all roles. As many children begin their stage experience at STARS, we foster a positive environment where former campers help welcome and ease new campers into the magic of theater.
